Your first Linux gameplay recording with OBS
A simple preparation checklist before you hit Record.

Install from a supported source
Use OBS’s current Linux installation instructions. Distribution packages and other builds can differ, so note how you installed it when asking for help.
Start with a short test
Create a scene, add a suitable capture source for your desktop session, and confirm the audio meters move. Record a short clip, then watch it back to check sound, picture, and whether private desktop notifications are visible.
Tune for your actual machine
Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee smooth recording. Test while your game is running. If performance suffers, reduce recording resolution or frame rate and compare a repeatable scene before changing more settings.
Keep the original
Save a copy of the recording before editing. Check available disk space before a long session and use a destination you can find again. Keep microphones muted when private conversations are happening nearby.
