Steam Deck Verified: what the badge actually tells you

Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown—decode the labels before your next download.

MuffinMan editorial · November 6, 2026

Four labels, different meanings

Valve’s compatibility program categorizes games as Verified, Playable, Unsupported, or Unknown. The checks include controls, display, seamlessness, and system support. Read the details instead of treating every badge as a performance score.

Look beyond the badge

Your preferred frame rate, battery target, and text size may differ from another player’s. Check current details on the store page and test the settings that matter to you. Unknown means the title has not yet received a compatibility determination; it does not automatically mean it fails.

Share a useful report

Include the game version, graphics settings, and whether you used the default compatibility tool. Describe a repeatable scene instead of claiming a universal frame rate.
